Port Lansing is mid-Michigan’s only US Port of Entry that allows for goods and passengers to clear customs through the US Customs & Border Protection.

International lines of business will become common in the Greater Lansing area as a result of this new development direction. The Airport has over 100 acres available for immediate development for international businesses, and up to 825 acres for future development.

Dr. Tomas Hult, MSU, Thomas Maguire, US Commercial Service, Senator Debbie Stabenow at the April 5th, Press Conference announcing establishment of International Trade Center of Mid-Michigan.

To use Port Lansing as the port-of-entry for your next international freight shipment, use FIRMS code  I078 (i-zero-78). Or let your customs broker/freight forwarder/logistics provider know you want to use Port Lansing. Use Customs Region 3 - Customs Port 3807.  For containers or semi-trailers, please use firms code I180 (i-one-8-zero) for the large bonded warehouse at 3798 Capital City Blvd., Lansing, MI 48906. Please advise of pending shipments at least one week in advance at (517) 327-1052.

For the public and business community, these significant functions can be performed locally without having to travel to congested metro hubs like Detroit and Chicago.  International travel, importing and exporting can now be done with businesses, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics coordinators, located here in the Greater Lansing region - supporting companies and jobs here in our area.  A fully operational U.S. Customs & Border Protection Federal Inspection Station (FIS) is available to allow for processing of international general aviation, corporate aviation and air freight.

With a CSX rail-line adjacent to airport property, Port Lansing is convenient for transporting and storing rail freight, along with air-cargo and freight that may arrive through traditional trucking.  And with the recent designation of Foreign Trade Zone No. 275, international businesses have the potential to defer, reduce, or eliminate duties, improving cash flow and operational efficiencies.  Port Lansing is an emerging Global Logistics Center with the necessary infrastructure and resources available to give your company a competitive advantage in today's global economy.
